Ladies Program in Cologne
Tastings, design, art and a bit of making things
The name has aged; the idea hasn't. These days it's usually called a guest program or an accompanying program. Whatever you call it, we'll give the partners who travelled along a reason to be glad they came. Often it is in fact mostly women — but nobody is turned away at the door.
A few of our ideas:
Ladies Walk
Cologne is a way of living. The city at an unhurried pace, with an eye for the good addresses.
Gourmet Walk
Cologne, and it tastes good. A walk through what people here have eaten and drunk, then and now.
Scent Tour
From essential oils to the aromas of this city and the world-famous Eau de Cologne. The city by nose.
Tasting Workshops
Proper workshops in unusual rooms: pralines, a spice seminar, a barbecue for the whole group.
Art Scene
Galleries, artists' studios and museums — we put the route together the way you want it.
Design Tour
Come and have a look. A walk through the Belgian Quarter, where the city does its creative work.
Where the name comes from
A German newspaper defined it in 1972 as “a kind of occupational therapy for the hours in which the gentlemen devote themselves to scientific interests.” In this century that line only works as a joke: women sit in the main conference now, and the people on the guest program are there because the program is worth doing, not because they have been parked.
Which is the standard we hold it to. A morning with a chocolatier, an afternoon in the Belgian Quarter among designers and goldsmiths, a walk that ends somewhere good to eat. Something people would book on their own account.
